Apliu Street electronics, Golden Computer Arcade, fabric, cheap food. MTR Sham Shui Po. Crowded — watch your bag. It is not a “danger zone”.

Shops in Sham Shui Po

Sham Shui Po is an older northwest Kowloon district: electronic parts, bulbs, cloth, buttons, second-hand appliances. Residents come for a cable, a phone case, a SIM. You can treat it as a place to see if you accept it is a market first.

A few streets

  • Apliu Street: electronics and parts, still a little radio-scented.
  • Golden Computer Arcade and Golden Computer Centre: computers and phones, indoors.
  • Ki Lung and Yu Chau streets for fabric.
  • SIM shops: cheaper than the airport. Bring your passport. See the data page.

How to go

MTR Sham Shui Po (Tsuen Wan line) or Cheung Sha Wan. Map yourself to Apliu Street. Do not count cash in the carriage. Like other dense bits of Hong Kong: crowded, not “do not go”.

Questions

Can I bargain?

Electronics and parts stalls often take “a bit cheaper?”. Tagged computer parts inside malls have less room. Fabric is by the yard. Bargaining is not a show.
