Tsim Sha Tsui: the least thinking for a first stay

TST is the southern tip of Kowloon, on Victoria Harbour. Hotel density is among the highest in the city. Airport buses, the Star Ferry, and the MTR all meet here — and room rates charge for that.

Two stations, pick the exit

• Tsim Sha Tsui (Tsuen Wan line, red): Nathan Road, Haiphong Road, Chungking. Exit letters matter; the E cluster is easy to get lost in.
• East Tsim Sha Tsui (Tuen Ma and others): Mody Road, the Science Museum, the east promenade. Many business hotels sit closer to this station.
• An underground walkway links the two. You can stay indoors with luggage, but it is longer than it looks.

From the airport

Not rushed: Citybus A21 drops along Canton / Nathan Road, HK$34.6. Rushed: Airport Express to Kowloon for HK$105, then a taxi or hotel shuttle. Late, or three-plus splitting: a red taxi from the official rank.

What you can walk

• The promenade, the Clock Tower, Star Ferry at dusk.
• Star Ferry lower deck to Central: cheaper than the MTR, and you see the harbour.
• Canton Road luxury, Haiphong snacks, Knutsford Terrace restaurants. Canton Road prices are luxury prices — the rest of the city is not.
