Tram

  • Board at the rear, pay at the front. No change.
  • Adult $3.30, child $1.60, 65+ $1.50, per Hong Kong Tramways.
  • Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan. Better for watching the street than for speed. KMB harbour interchange needs Octopus.

Ferries

  • Star Ferry: TST to Central or Wan Chai. Lower deck is cheapest. The right way to see the harbour.
  • Cheung Chau, Lamma, Peng Chau: Central piers. Ordinary class is cheaper than deluxe. Signal No. 8 stops them.

About $6 per piece in the boot. Check the driver ID up front. Ask if you need a receipt. From April 2026 taxis must offer at least two e-pay methods; cash is still the least awkward.

Questions

Why did the harbour taxi add tunnel money twice?

If you did not board at a cross-harbour rank, you pay the tunnel plus the driver’s return, currently $50 flat across the three harbour tunnels. At a cross-harbour rank you pay $25. Read the notice by the meter.
