Tuen Mun: cheaper rooms, the beach is one bus away

Stay in Tuen Mun for Castle Peak Bay and dense Light Rail. Allow 40–50 minutes into TST. LWB A33 from the airport — do not ride into Kowloon and back.

Tuen Mun is western New Territories, facing Castle Peak Bay. Not postcard Hong Kong — the Hong Kong a lot of people actually live in. Hotels and serviced apartments undercut TST. You pay in travel time.

From the airport, do not detour

LWB A33, A33X and similar run toward Tuen Mun. Check App 1933 for that day’s trips and fares. Riding A21 into TST and then back out to Tuen Mun is the most wasteful first-day mistake.

Once you are there

  • Light Rail: street-level. Tap on the platform before boarding and when you leave. Sam Shing is the stop for Castle Peak Bay, then walk the waterfront.
  • Tuen Ma Line from Tuen Mun toward Kowloon and TST — confirm the interchange in MTR Mobile.
  • Buses on Castle Peak Road stop near the beach.

Questions

Is Tuen Mun too far?

Too far if you have five days of TST meetings. Reasonable if you want to swim, spend less on the room, and accept a Tuen Ma or bus ride each day. Local families already use it that way on weekends.
