Arrive at Liantang / Heung Yuen Wai

Hours about 07:00–22:00. Shenzhen side: a mall at the gate (food, pharmacy, bank, mobile shops). Hong Kong side: a rural bus yard. Citybus B7 to Sheung Shui / Fanling, B8 via Tai Po, KMB B9 to Tuen Mun.

Notes dated 2026-09

A newer eastern road port, handy for Fanling, Sheung Shui, Tai Po, Sha Tin, or skipping Lo Wu crowds. Hours about 07:00–22:00 — earlier than Lo Wu and Shenzhen Bay. Shenzhen Metro line 2 exits at Lanting International: you walk into a mall. The Hong Kong side is the opposite.

Food: a mall in Shenzhen, countryside in Hong Kong

  • Shenzhen side: Liantang Port Commercial City (Siji Yuyuan) sits against the hall. Two modest floors, but restaurants, pharmacy, banks (BOC, CCB), China Mobile / Unicom, SF Express and FX are packed together. Hours roughly follow the port 07:00–22:00. You do not hike to another district — the opposite of Shenzhen Bay’s plaza.
  • A few more steps: Lanting International (Metro line 2 exits A2/A3) has Burger King and other chains. McDonald’s is a short walk in Liantang (e.g. Jubao Road). Pharmacy, supermarket and coffee sit in the same cluster. You do not need to ride to Dongmen first.
  • Hong Kong Heung Yuen Wai: a rural border, not a shopping stop. A convenience store by the bays is luck. Ride B7 to Sheung Shui for real food, a SIM shop and East Rail. Do not wait at the control point with a suitcase.

Shops turn over. What follows is the shape of the port — a mall at the gate, or a big plaza — not a permanent menu.

Land ports rarely sell a fair data SIM. Turn on a Hong Kong eSIM before you travel; after crossing, buy in Sheung Shui, Yuen Long, Mong Kok or Sham Shui Po with your passport.

Fares, frequencies, and border hours change. Recheck App 1933, Citybus, MTR Mobile, or the ImmD app before you go.

Passenger hours follow ImmD on the day. Bad weather can close early. Road crossings often shut the approach about 30 minutes before closing.

Questions

Are Liantang and Heung Yuen Wai two different borders?

One crossing, two names. Shenzhen: Liantang Port (Metro line 2, exits at Lanting International). Hong Kong: Heung Yuen Wai Control Point. After immigration, the B7 / B8 / B9 bays. Do not hail on the highway.

Should I eat on the Shenzhen side before crossing?

If you need a meal, a pharmacy or a calm toilet: do it on the Shenzhen side. Liantang Port Commercial City sits against the hall — restaurants, pharmacy, bank, mobile shops, courier and FX in one cluster. Lanting International next door has Burger King and other chains; McDonald’s is a short walk in Liantang. After Hong Kong immigration you are at rural bus bays; the next real meal is Sheung Shui. Do not confuse this with Shenzhen Bay’s empty plaza.
