Arrive at Shenzhen Bay Port

Co-location. Hours about 06:30–24:00. The Shenzhen side is a big plaza — no McDonald’s-style chains at the gate. The Hong Kong side is a bus yard. NLB B2 to Yuen Long; Citybus B3 / B3X to Tuen Mun.

Notes dated 2026-09

Shenzhen Bay is co-located: after Hong Kong checks you are already at the Hong Kong bus yard. Hours about 06:30–24:00. The approach often closes to private cars about 30 minutes before. Shenzhen Metro line 13 now reaches the station — easier to leave, but you are still on a plaza, not walking into a Liantang-style mall.

Food on both sides: do not count on the port

  • Shenzhen side: a large plaza, car parks and bus bays. Official amenities are FX, Bank of China, China Unicom, couriers and toilets. The “commercial city” here is mostly parcel shops, not a food mall. Do not expect McDonald’s, Burger King, a supermarket and a pharmacy in one building. Hungry: Metro line 13 away, or a bus toward Coastal City, MixC or Qianhai.
  • Hong Kong side: a bus terminus, a ride from Yuen Long or Tuen Mun. No reliable mall or chain. Toilet, then board. Buy a SIM in town. A taxi to TST is expensive.
  • Contrast: Liantang’s Shenzhen side is a mall at the gate. Shenzhen Bay is not. Pick Shenzhen Bay for Tuen Mun or Yuen Long. Pick Liantang, Lo Wu or Futian if you also need a meal or a pharmacy before you cross.

Shops turn over. What follows is the shape of the port — a mall at the gate, or a big plaza — not a permanent menu.

Land ports rarely sell a fair data SIM. Turn on a Hong Kong eSIM before you travel; after crossing, buy in Sheung Shui, Yuen Long, Mong Kok or Sham Shui Po with your passport.

Fares, frequencies, and border hours change. Recheck App 1933, Citybus, MTR Mobile, or the ImmD app before you go.

Passenger hours follow ImmD on the day. Bad weather can close early. Road crossings often shut the approach about 30 minutes before closing.

Questions

Is even the Shenzhen side of Shenzhen Bay bad for food?

Yes. Outside the hall is a huge plaza and car parks — not a Liantang-style mall at the gate. Official amenities are FX, Bank of China, China Unicom, courier points and toilets; the “commercial city” here is mostly parcel shops, not restaurants. Do not expect McDonald’s or Burger King at the port. Eat after Metro line 13, or a bus toward Coastal City / MixC. The Hong Kong exit is only a bus terminus.
