Arrive
Arrive at Huanggang / Lok Ma Chau road port
24-hour passenger crossing (confirm ImmD). This is the road control point, not East Rail Lok Ma Chau. On the Hong Kong side, Huang Bus to San Tin then change.
Notes dated 2026-09
Shenzhen calls it Huanggang; Hong Kong calls it Lok Ma Chau Control Point — a road port. Passengers have long been 24 hours. The new co-location building is opening in phases; follow live signs, not old photos. This is not the Futian footbridge.
Leaving on the Hong Kong side
- Usual: Huang Bus to San Tin PTI, then East Rail (you still need a feeder toward Sheung Shui / Fanling) or KMB toward Yuen Long and Sheung Shui. Use 1933 and the bay signs.
- If you already have a cross-border coach ticket, board where the company says. An unmarked car is not that coach.
- Taxis: follow rank signs. Into town is not cheap.
Shops turn over. What follows is the shape of the port — a mall at the gate, or a big plaza — not a permanent menu.
To each district
| Going to | How | Roughly | Watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Island and Kowloon | Huang Bus to San Tin, then bus or East Rail feeder into town; or taxi. | Day ~60–90 min | First time by day: aiming for East Rail is less confusing. |
| Tseung Kwan O | Into Kowloon then Tseung Kwan O line — a long way. | 90 min+ | If you are heading east, Lo Wu or Futian is usually saner. |
| Tai Po, Fanling | San Tin toward Sheung Shui then East Rail. | ~40–60 min | Read KMB flags. Yuen Long is the other way from Fanling. |
| Tuen Mun, Yuen Long | Buses from San Tin to Yuen Long; then Tuen Ma Line or bus to Tuen Mun. | ~30–50 min to Yuen Long | This road port sits well for the north-west NT. |
Land ports rarely sell a fair data SIM. Turn on a Hong Kong eSIM before you travel; after crossing, buy in Sheung Shui, Yuen Long, Mong Kok or Sham Shui Po with your passport.
Fares, frequencies, and border hours change. Recheck App 1933, Citybus, MTR Mobile, or the ImmD app before you go.
Passenger hours follow ImmD on the day. Bad weather can close early. Road crossings often shut the approach about 30 minutes before closing.
Questions
If I cross after midnight, is there still a ride in Hong Kong?
Some Huang Bus trips run overnight to San Tin public transport interchange, but they are thin. Late connections from San Tin are limited; a taxi is more realistic. East Rail is long closed overnight.
