HKIA: where to go after baggage claim
Find the Ground Transportation Centre, Airport Express, A-buses, and the official taxi rank at Hong Kong International Airport.
Notes dated 2026-09
Most flights use Terminal 1. Terminal 2 has been rebuilt — follow live signs, not old blogs.
Four exits, do not mix them
| You want | Follow | Note |
|---|---|---|
| City buses A/E/S | Ground Transportation Centre | A-buses are dearer and direct; E-buses cheaper, slower, stricter luggage rules. |
| Airport Express | Airport Express / MTR | At Airport station. In-town check-in is for departure day. |
| Taxi | Taxi | Red = urban, green = some NT, blue = Lantau only. Read the queue signs. |
| Hotel / Disneyland buses | Hotel / Disneyland signs | Do not treat a touted coach as your hotel shuttle. |
Bags
- A-buses have a lower-deck rack for normal suitcases. Do not block the aisle.
- Many E-buses dislike oversized luggage. Two large cases: choose A-bus, rail, or taxi.
- Airport Express cars have luggage space. Best when you are in a hurry.
Fares change. Recheck App 1933, Citybus, or MTR Mobile before you go.
Questions
Where is the GTC?
After bags in Terminal 1, follow green Ground Transportation Centre signs downstairs. A, E, and S buses leave from there.
